Mesh chairs are becoming an increasingly popular choice for office seating. We offer an eclectic mix of task and meeting chairs with a contemporary edge that is designed to integrate seamlessly with the modern office environment. The mesh provides ventilation to the back, with flexible support that moulds to the user for exceptional comfort. With no foam to lose shape or density, the mesh backs have greater durability compared to some standard padded fabric backs. Each of our mesh task chairs offers a range and choice of ergonomic features to enhance the user’s comfort and productivity.
Unlike many imported office mesh chairs, our mesh chairs are part manufactured in the UK, including all seat upholstery works. This means that you have the choice of hundreds of commercial quality fabric options. You can make a statement by using bold and vibrant colours, integrate your corporate colour scheme or keep it traditional with black and grey tones. We also offer a choice of armrests to suit your preferences.
Below are just some of the mesh task chairs features available from our collection:

The Mesh Chair Story
In 1994 American office furniture manufacturer Herman Miller produced the ‘Aeron chair’ and introduced a new fabric to the humble office chair called ‘Pellicle’. Pellicle is a sheer mesh material that covered the back of the chair giving it its unique appearance. The Aeron chair went on to be a firm favourite in America, being titled “America’s best-selling chair” in 2010 and being featured in a permanent position in the Museum of Modern Art. However, not only did this chair take America by storm, it also became a popular choice throughout Europe, with a long chain of mesh office chairs being designed since its debut.
Before the Aeron chairs debut in 1994 there was a rise in studies in the 1970s about the effects of office work on the human body. This led to ergonomics – the study of the human form and how to change parts of the immediate environment to suit our health requirements. Naturally, this led to a demand in ergonomic furniture, with the design of chairs suddenly being a scientific concern rather than just a business one.
The rise of ergonomics and mesh chair design paved the way for the Aeron chair and the Aeron chair itself paved the way for the development of mesh office chairs, such as the ones here provide here at F&S Contract Furniture.
